Bulk Certify Similar Products

If you have multiple products with similar functionality (e.g. different colors or shapes) but have different model numbers, the Certification by Reference program may allow you to certify a single Primary Device and have all applicable variant devices certified at no additional cost.

Hub Connected Devices may qualify if they contain the same:
  • Brand
  • Firmware Version
  • Device Category
  • Device Profile
  • Edge Driver, including the same (or no) sub-drivers
Cloud Connected Devices may quality if they contain the same:
  • Brand
  • Device Category
  • Connector ID
  • Device Profile and Device Handler Type

Note that Cloud Connected Devices may have different Device Profiles and still be considered for Certification by Reference. This is possible only if the Capabilities for any variant devices are a subset of the Primary Device. If any variant device has additional Capabilities, partial testing is required for the variant device(s).

If your device and its variants qualify, only the Primary Device will be required to be shipped to UL for testing. If you believe your products qualify for Certification by Reference, please contact our team after submitting your products for certification.

All devices will need to be submitted through the Console regardless of whether they qualify for Certification by Reference.
