Process Overview

  1. Create Your SmartThings Organization and Brand: Create a SmartThings Organization and Brand in the Certification Console. (You can do this at any time, even before your testing is complete.)

  2. Wait for results: CSA ITL will test your device for both Matter and WWST compliance. Once testing is complete and your device has passed, you will receive an email from wwst.cert@samsung.com.

  3. Create Your Product(s) in the Certification Console: Using the specific information from your test results email, create a new Product in the Certification Console.

  4. Submit and Get Approved: Submit your product(s) for final approval. Because your device already passed testing, this approval is automatic and finalizes your certification.

Create Your SmartThings Organization and Brand

If you have previously created a Works with SmartThings Brand and Organization

Log in to the Certification Console using the Samsung account associated with your Organization. After logging in, skip to create your product in the Certification Console.

You can create an organization and brand at any time and do not need to wait for your device to pass testing.

Configure Your Organization

To complete the certification process, you will need to create a SmartThings Organization to manage your brand in the Certification console.

  1. Sign in to the Certification Console using your Samsung account.
  2. Navigate to the Console Organization Settings. At the top right corner of the Console, click your username and select Organization Settings.

If you do not have an existing SmartThings Organization, you will be prompted to create one.

Create Your Brand

If you do not yet have a Brand created in the Certification Console, create one by selecting Brands from the Console sidebar menu and follow the indicated prompts to create a new Brand.

Create Your Product

After you have received confirmation that your product(s) have passed WWST certification, you are ready to create a new Product in the Certification Console. Your confirmation email (sent from wwst.cert@samsung.com) will provide you with all necessary info for creating your Product in the Certification Console.

To create a new Product in the Console, select Products from the Console sidebar menu and create a new product, or navigate to https://developer.smartthings.com/console/products/new. On the new product page, you will be asked to provide your product details.

Provide Your Product Details

You will be prompted to provide several product details, including:

  • Product name: The name used when listing your product in the SmartThings app. This name will be seen by users.
  • Model number: The model number for your device. The device shipped for testing should match this model number.
  • Brand: Choose the brand that will be presented to users in the SmartThings app.
  • Product category: Add one or more categories that best describe your product. It will appear under these categories in the SmartThings app.
  • Product description: Include a description of your product to be presented in the SmartThings application.
  • Product Image: Provide an image of the device to be viewed by users during the onboarding flow. Must be in PNG format (584x584 pixels minimum) with a transparent background.
  • Product Purchase URL: Enter a URL where your product can be purchased online.
  • Driver: This information is provided to you in your certification test results email
  • Device Profile: This information is provided to you in your certification test results email
  • VID and PID: This information is provided to you in your certification test results email

Complete Your Submission

After creating your Product in the Certification Console, you are ready to submit your certification request. If your product has passed certification testing, your product will automatically be approved for Works with SmartThings certification. You will receive email confirmation once your product(s) are certified.

Your certified product will automatically be published to the SmartThings catalog, and can now enjoy the benefits of WWST certification including utilizing the Works with SmartThings press kit.
